There is a reason behind that and in this process, he meets a TV channel member (sunil). His flashback reveals how he also met Subhashini (Anushka) and how her 'iron leg' brings him trouble, how he comes across the murder of a researcher and his assistant. Meanwhile, in a small village, a man by name Siddappa (Shafi) sets out on a journey to find the one saviour who can rescue his village members from sure death. He gets the signals when he sees Seetarama Raju but Raju doesn't believe it one bit. Where is that village? What is the link between the village and the killings of the researcher? All this and more forms the rest of the story. Artist performances: Prince Mahesh Babu has given a delectable performance and it is not only his handsome looks but also his special slang that catches the attention and connects with the audience. He seems to have made a thumping comeback. Anushka looks gorgeous and she has scored more on her beautiful presence than any skin show or visual feast. Her cute expressions make her adorable. Prakashraj was effective. Rao Ramesh was top notch. Shafi was fabulous. Sunil and Ali were entertaining. Brahmi was witty. Raghu Babu gave few smiles, Subbaraju was strong and showed intensity. The others did their bit as required. Plus points: * Mahesh's performance and dialogue delivery * Comedy track * 'Om Namo Rudraya..' song * Cinematography * Technical values * Rao Ramesh's performance Minus points: * Weak storyline * Romance track not strong * Prakashraj's character not given strength Analysis: The way Mahesh carried the whole film on his shoulders is highly appreciable. The comedy track and technical aspects worked in favour of the film. The trademark punch effect from dialogues worked at times. There was an element of god which will appeal to the B and C center audience. It is natural for many to go with high expectations since the duo of Mahesh-Trivikram gave 'Athadu' but it is better to watch the film with open mind and not with any comparisons. Verdict: Watch it for Mahesh - You will not Disappoint! |
Movie : Robo Rating: 3.75/5 Cast : Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Bachchan, Danny Denzongpa, Cochin Haneefa, Santhanam, Kalabhavan Mani, M S Bhaskar Directed by : Shankar Produced by : Kalanidhi Maran, Ha Banner : Sun Pictures Music : A R Rahman Release Date : 2010-10-01 Story: A technical treat, the story is about Vaseekaran (Rajinikanth) who is a scientist. His life is perfect with his lady love Sana (Aishwarya) and his only aim in life is to come up with a robot that can be useful to save the lives of soldiers in the Indian army. He manages to come up with one like that and names it Chitti (Rajini again). The success of Chitti is not taken well by Vaseekaran’s mentor Dr Bohra (Danny) as he wants to use it for business purpose. However, things take a turn when Vaseekaran is asked to induce feelings to Chitti stating it will not be able to figure out right and wrong without them. Vaseekaran does that but then his new addition begins causing trouble for him. What are those troubles and what happens after that forms the rest of the story. Artist performances: Rajinikanth was good as a scientist and also as a robot. His performance as the robot is more impressive and it may not be much of fun for Rajini fans since there are no histrionics or the regular punch dialogues that gives them the kick. He has been quite contained here. Aishwarya is an asset to the film. Her beauty, her glamour and her glowing looks are sure to catch the breath of the audience and she has proved why she is called one of the most beautiful women in the world. Danny Denzongpa was decent and he carries his role with grace. Santhanam was okay, Cochin Haneefa was brief, Kalabhavan Mani was there for few seconds while the others came and went. Plus points: * Rajini as robot * Aishwarya Bachchan * Visual appeal * Songs picturization * Climax action sequence Minus points: * Music(AR Rahman fails to live up to the standards set by him) * Few scenes lack logic * Slow Pace in Second Half * Run-Time(2 hours 52 minutes) Analysis: The maker attempts to show what happens when a man creates something which is outside the norms of nature. Though superficially, the robot concept serves as user friendly and reducing man efforts, the consequences are severe when there is a slight disturbance in its composition. The first half tends to create a decent feel and it is the second half which goes down on the emotional graph. However, the climax action sequence is worth a treat and it will fetch the brownie points. AR Rahman's music could have been better. At the box office, this will appeal to all sections and is sure to mesmerize. Verdict: Don't Miss It! |
